Old Boots Old Bikes Old Flattops
The Nala Street Band was inspired by my late cousin Rick who's love for all music sparked the journey to the discovery of my love for music and art that came late in life and would never have been realized without those last few cherished visits he made to the beach before his short life ended. The site will soon have his works available for your enjoyment after the old recordings are formatted and edited.

The Story
Many years ago back inland on the Catawba River inspiration was taking place and was not yet being realized. These inspirations were in many forms and from many sources. Through the early years hard work was rewarded with time on the water and picking a Guitar with Dad and his band. Not knowing it at the time much experience was gained that would guide me through life’s many different avenues. These experiences were being burned into my memory to be stored dormant until a later time. After taking wrong turns at numerous crossroads in life a series of events would break loose those dormant experiences and inspire an infinite artistic journey in my life. My family roots in music and art surfaced late in life. This started with Blacksmithing and metal work which was passed down from my Grand Dad through my Dad to me. Some years later a love for music was also set free by a shop accident that almost took my ability to be a Picker. This inspired something that I never knew existed. Some years before the accident the death of a younger cousin which also was a Musician re-sparked my interest in music. In his short life and the few months just before he left this world his expressed love for music helped me to realize that I to had this same passion. The difference in us was evident in he did not let life cloud his love for music. I on the other hand let my love for music get locked away by a career that would take up all of my time and kindle a false love for money. Even though it took many years for my eyes to be completely opened, I did realize that music was a necessity for my life, which I am sure my cousin had already realized many years before. Once this evolution began those dormant stored experiences began to break out and I had no idea what was going on. While away on a long out of town project with a lot of time to ponder, it occurred to me that I wanted to write songs and compose. A small studio was constructed and the long learning experience started for me. This channeled an outlet for all of the stored inspiration that was retained from those early years back on the river. It came more and more evident to me that I would need a place in which to work on writing and other art projects that were being revealed in my mind. A good friend of mine had named the shop I had back inland Possum Forge. At first I began to call the new shop Possum Forge, However there was more art than metal work being done. Upon getting more serious about writing and composing and the coming of the digital age in recording I began working on a studio. Due to the cost of material increasing and much distance to acquire materials needed I began salvaging any construction materials that were left over after projects and storing them. Just after the new Millennium the company that I worked for ceased operations and I began working in Construction Management again, and later back into Nuclear Power Plant maintenance. These types of work gave some time at home between projects and the materials I had scavenged for so many years were transformed to a Recording Studio and a Millwright-Blacksmith shop. There were many years spent working on sound quality and completing the studio and shop. The time that I am able to spend in the studio on actual writing and composing is still not as much as I would like, however I have found a balance for work and music. In the near future there will be other art coming from the studio also, and it will be displayed on the website for purchase. I am looking forward to pursuing this work that has been left dormant for so long. I am thankful that I have a special place to pursue my artistic ambitions and the name Scavenger Studio fits the whole concept and actuality that I dreamed about for so many years.
