I Can’t Believe (what’s going on in this country here today)

I can’t believe what’s going on I this country here today

The left and the right fight on TV while out troops get blown away

It isn’t any wonder that respect is slipping away

I can’t believe what’s going on in this country here today, here today

I can’t believe what’s going on in this country here today

How is fair to the ones who fought and died just to throw it all away

Why don’t they talk about those 100 hours any more today

I can’t believe what’s going on in this country here today, here today

Now we send our kids to college, to help them along their way

Where their taught what we believe is wrong, but love the money that we pay

To have made a living with my hands was a wasted life they say

I can’t believe what’s going on in this country here today, here   today

Instrumental break

I can’t believe what’s going on in this country here today

Look what went down in Viet Nam and here we go the same way

They justify a cut and run for a new game they want to play

I can’t believe what’s going on in this country here today, here today

Why don’t they stop and think before freedom melts away

I can’t believe what’s going on in this great country here today, here today

And how the hell is just being born give you any right to stay

Look what’s going on in this great country here today, here today

Instrumental ending

"I Can't Believe" was written along the time line of "They Better Stop" After finishing They better Stop and realizing that it was out side the envelope that would be marketable, I decided to write another Politically Incorrect song and put them together. The song was inspired by overheard and involved conversations about the state of things today. To Add to that the Campaigning was in full swing and it was making me crazy. I found my self with a pen and paper writing down ideas while waiting for my next "jump" while working on Reactors during the fall season that year. With all that was happening around me at the time it did not take long for the song to come together. When I got back home the song was put together in the studio and a Demo was done. The song is  another testament to the "Helter Skelter" downward spiral  that our politicians have caused, while all the time thinking that they have it all under control.
