Life Goes On

On his 50th birthday he got unemployed

Those new foreign owners don’t like southern boys

He wouldn’t change he’s been that way to long

And he knows life goes on

Oh life goes on, oh life just goes on, and the way its going is so wrong

And he knows life goes own.

He’s gad he made it through the Nam

But the Agent Orange makes it hard to stand

If he could go back, he’d serve again, even though- they forgot about him

 Instrumental break

And the dusty air he breathed early in his career, has robed him of his breath and the one he loved so dear, and they wonder if he’ll quit the whiskey and beer,

not as long as old memories are clear

Oh life goes on, oh life just goes on, and for him its going so damn wrong,

he don’t care, If life goes on

instrumental hook leading into ending

He don't care if life goes on,

He don’t want life to go on

  To just go own

Instrumental ending short

Life goes on was the result of many unfortunate life experiences both mine and some of my dear friends. The story is based on mostly on 3 people that that have run into unfortunate events throughout life, none of which was a result of our own. There is a good friend of mine who is severely affected by the result of bring exposed to "Super Agent Orange" during his tour in The Nam. The affect on his life due to pain in his feet and hands also causes us to no longer be able to make music. There is the Asbestos that I and so many others were exposed to, also along with the contaminated environments that we were exposed to, that has taken a toll on the old friends that I have, and the ones I have lost. There is the the stress of losing employment due to someone else and their bad judgment or greed along with always being expected to always give 110% and never fail in impossible situations and "keep driving on" no matter what, until it burns us out. All of these things are part of the song. The ending is also a look of how life can cause one to fall into a downward spiral that will take all of the joys that life brings away. There is also inspiration from my late Cousin Rick and his unfortunate death.   The song was written while I was on the road and exhausted. The emptiness of being away from family and friends is what inspired the creation of this song.
