The Old Boot Old Bikes Old Flattops Story

The Old Boots Old Bikes Old Flattops Collection is a collection of songs that reflect life back on the Catawba River and the last 15 years years in the South Brunswick Islands. In reality all except 3 were conceived from the Catawba River years, where I learned how to live, love, work, and have fun. My life back then was exposed to music, with roots back many generations. Dad was always playing at  Square-dances and other social events with a group of musicians I am still a part of now for more than 45 years. The music was a traditional Blue Grass and Folk mixture from the Western North Carolina region, which today would be considered Gospel Blue Grass. I began my love for the Guitar at an early age and would jam with Dads band and also stand in with others when needed. I would pay close attention to how each musician had a style which would b e his "signature". The Pickers would all have different styles and I would pay close attention to the conversations that were going on while doing the "Runs" as they were called, and taking turns on leads and backing the Fiddle, Banjo and Dobro, and if we were lucky a Dog House Bass would top it all off. Sometimes there would be Piano players doing that "special hammer" style that I loved so, and also there would be folks that would sing and "Call" the dance. I will never forget those times and intend to write a book on all that was experienced.
